An Oathbreaker is a paladin who has broken his or her oath to pursue some dark ambition or serve an evil power. Whatever light burned in the paladin’s heart has been extinguished. Only darkness remains.

### 3rd Level

##### Oath Revocation
Instead of gaining power by manifesting their oath, an Oathbreaker draws dark power from the revocation of their oath. The [[Paladin#Manifest Oath|Manifest Oath]] options you gain from being a Paladin are renamed to Oath Revocation options, and you gain the following options.

###### Oath Revocation: Control Undead
>As a bonus action, you can use an [[#Oath Revocation|Oath Revocation]] to target one [[Creature Type#Undead|undead]] creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target must obey your commands for the next 24 hours, or until you use this Oath Revocation option again. An undead whose challenge rating is equal to or greater than your Paladin level is immune to this effect.

###### Oath Revocation: Dreadful Aspect
>As an action, you can use an [[#Oath Revocation|Oath Revocation]] to channel your darkest emotions and focus them into a burst of magical menace. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw if it can see you. On a failed save, the target is [[Conditions#Frightened|frightened]] for 1 minute. If a creature frightened by this effect ends its turn more than 30 feet away from you, it can attempt another Wisdom saving throw to end the effect on it.

##### Aura of Hate
Starting at 7th level, you and any allies within your [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]], gain a bonus to weapon damage rolls equal to your spellcasting modifier (minimum of +1).

##### Supernatural Resistance
At 15th level, you gain [[Damage and Healing#Resistance|resistance]] to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.

##### Dread Lord
At 20th level, as bonus action you can fill your [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]] with gloom, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- Your [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]] reduces any [[Exploration & Environment#Bright Light|bright light]] within it to [[Exploration & Environment#Dim light|dim light]].
- Whenever an enemy that is [[Conditions#Frightened|frightened]] by you starts its turn within you [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]], it takes 4d10 psychic damage.
- You and any creatures you choose within your [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]] are draped in deeper shadow. Creatures that rely on sight have [[Abilities & Skills#Advantage & Disadvantage|disadvantage]] on attack rolls against creatures draped in this shadow.
- During the minute, you can use a bonus action on your turn to cause the shadows in your [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]] to attack one creature. Make a melee spell attack against the target. If the attack hits, the target takes necrotic damage equal to 3d10 + your spellcasting modifier.
After activating your [[Paladin#Heroic Aura|Heroic Aura]] in this way, you can’t do so again until you finishes a [[Survival Needs#Long Rest|long rest]], unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
